With its 17-inch (1600 x 900) display, the Satellite Pro L870-17X is adequate as a portable graphic design computing device. With very clear colors reproduction, the display seems to have excellent quality. For a laptop model with such a big display, the Satellite Pro L870-17X has good battery life.
It comes with Windows 8, which makes it very difficult to set up dual boot. The 4GB of RAM is a bit too limited for more intense multitasking tasks, graphic design tasks and light gaming, but users can add another 4GB of RAM module.
The laptop is powered by 3rd generation Intel® Core™ i5-3230M 2.6GHz, which is paired with a AMD Radeon HD 7670M GPU. On the sides, there are two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port with Sleep and Charge support, VGA out, RJ-45 socket and HDMI out with 1080p video output. The 1Mp webcam includes an integrated microphone. The Satellite Pro L870-17X is available for about £500 in various UK stores.
