The new Toshiba Satellite P50t and Tecra W50 are marketed as the world’s first notebooks with 4K Ultra HD display. The Satellite P50 t is designed for 4K multimedia enthusiasts, graphics designers and professional photographers; while the Tecra W50 is more usable for 3D designers and engineers.
Both models are built around an impressive 15.6-inch 3840 x 2160 display, which delivers approximately 282ppi of pixel density. They run the new Windows 8.1 operating system and equipped with hardware specs that are more suited to their target markets. As expected, the Tecra W50 and Satellite P50t are somewhat plumper than other 15.6-inch laptop models out there.
Underneath its case, the Tecra W50 is equipped with Intel Core i7 quad-core Haswell processor and Nvidia Quadro K2100M discrete GPU with 2GB of dedicated video memory. There are a variety of storage options, from the speedy 256GB SSD to the spacious 1TB HDD. RAM options also range from 8GB to 32GB.
In contrast, the Satellite P50t is more suitable for average consumer and it is powered by the somewhat slower Intel dual-core Haswell processor. The 4K display includes touchscreen capability and there are also 750GB of HDD and 8GB to 16GB of RAM.
