The Lenovo IdeaPad Z510 is a good alternative for users with preferences for acceptable gaming and system performance. Compared to the earlier IdeaPad Z500, the laptop is about 2mm longer and 5m wide. But generally both share the same stability, build quality, colors, surface characteristics, materials and shape.
They are even not particularly easy to maintain. There is no maintenance cover at the bottom and to gain access to the battery and other hardware components; technicians need to remove the keyboard. The Lenovo IdeaPad Z510 has a 15.6-inch Full HD matte display with reasonable outdoor readability.
The Intel Core i5 4200M is a standard non-ULV dual-core Haswell processor, clocked dynamically between 2.5GHz and 3GHz. Its direct predecessor from the earlier Ivy Bridge family is the Core i5 3210M, which has the same frequency clocks, both base and turbo. However, the new Haswell enhancement offers better power efficiency and slight improvement in computing and graphics performance.
The hybrid hard drive configuration is consisted of a standard 500GB 5400rpm HDD and 8GB SSD for caching. The Lenovo also uses the Optimus solution, which switches alternately between the energy-efficient Intel HD Graphics 4600 IGP and more powerful Nvidia GeForce GT 740M discrete graphics card.
