System76 Unveils Two High-Performance Ubuntu Linux Laptops

The Secure Boot feature of Windows 8 makes it more difficult for non-techies to install Linux OS. As an alternative, users may opt to purchase laptops with Linux OS preinstalled instead.

The Gazelle Professional and Galago UltraPro are appropriate for both office workers and casual. With Steam support, these laptops can actually deliver better gaming capability than most Linux-based laptops.

The Galago UltraPro is equipped with Intel’s 4th generation processor, the Core i7 4750HQ quad-core chip, clocked at 2GHz. The decent gaming capability is provided by the Intel Iris Pro GPU, which has 128MB of dedicated eDRAM. Intel claimed that the Iris is 50 percent faster compared to the Intel HD Graphics 4000, used by Core i7 Ivy Bridge lineup.  The laptop is also equipped with 14.1” full HD IPS display, three USB 3.0 ports, DisplayPort, HDMI and SD card reader.

The Gazelle Professional is the more affordable model with Intel Core i7 4700MQ processor, 15.6” full HD display, Intel HD Graphics 4600 GPU, 4GB of RAM and three storage options, 500GB HDD, 1TB HDD and 256GB SSD.
