Sony Vaio SV-T14124CXS Review

The Sony Vaio SV-T14124CXS is available in various color options, with silver/white as the default scheme. The absence of highly glossy surface prevents issues related to visible grease and fingerprints. With its attractive look, the laptop may pass as a more expensive model.  Unfortunately, the laptop is only equipped with two USB ports, which limits usability somewhat.

The chiclet-style non-backlit keyboard is reasonably spacious, but the overall feedback is unsatisfactory and keys are a little too soft. The 14” 1366 x 768 display is a standard among budget to mid-range laptops. The glossy display and weak brightness level contribute significantly to the poor outdoor performance, even when the laptop is used under the shade.

There are three processor options, Intel Core i3 3227U at 1.9GHz, Core i5 3337U at 1.8GHz and Core i7 3537U at 2GHz; each with 4GB of DDR3 1600MHz RAM. The 500GB SATAII Seagate HDD is paired with 24GB SSD for caching purposes only. As always, the Intel HD Graphics 4000 is adequate only low resolution gaming.
