The Scan 3XS-MGW-10 has typical characteristics of a powerful notebook; it weighs a truckload and doesn’t look too appealing. However, it is still a bargain, thanks to the attractive price tag. It has Intel Core i7 3740QM processor clocked at 2.7GHz, 16GB of RAM, Nvidia Quadro K3000M 2GB graphic card, Blu-ray rewriter, 240MB Corsair Force GS SSD, 750GB WD Scorpio Black HDD, 17.3” LED 1080p display, WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet, one USB 2.0 port, two USB 3.0 ports, card, reader, audio combo jacks, RJ-45 LAN socket, HDMI out, DispplayPort, DVI-I and FireWire.
For many people, the Nvidia Quadro K3000M graphics card is the most intriguing component of the laptop. It is built around the 576 CUDA cores, which is more powerful than the earlier Quadro 4000M with only 336 cores. The 1080p display is reasonable for intensive 3D works, although it performs somewhat less than laptops with IPS panel. The Scan 3XS-MGW-10 is not a multimedia-oriented laptop, so music won’t be as bass laden as users might hope.
