Less than a year ago, Panasonic released the Toughbook CF-AX that can endure significant abuse during daily usages. Now, the Japanese company has presented with a new generation of the robust ultrabook. The Toughbook CF-AX3 upgrades the 11.6-inch display with 1080p resolution, from the HD resolution on the original model. The IPS panel also allows users to view the screen clearly until up to 170 degrees. The design still allows use to rotate the display and change the device form factor into a laptop or tablet.
The new Intel Core i5 4300U Haswell processor can deliver between 8 and 12 hours of battery life depending on usage patterns. Thanks to the hot swap capability, users can double the battery life if they have a spare cell. The CF-AX3 is surprisingly light for a rugged laptop, at only 1.135kg.
It can sustain 100kgf of pressure and a drop from up to 76cm of height without sustaining damage. Wireless connectivity options include WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and optional 4G/3G connection. On the sides, there are full SDXC card slot, a couple of USB 3.0 ports, HDMI out and legacy VGA port. The Panasonic Toughbook CF-AX3 will be available in the United Kingdom for around £1600 including VAT.
