MSI seems to have some busy weeks prior to the official launch of Intel Haswell lineup. The company started by introducing the GT60 and GT70, both with Intel Core i7 4200MQ quad-core “Haswell” processor clocked at 3.2GHz. But consumers, who find that these 8.6lbs and 7.7lbs laptops are too heavy for their taste, would surely find the slimmer GE series more appealing.
The MSI GE40 is now available with a unique industrial design and vicious-looking red lights on its lid. At 1.14-inch thick and 4.4lbs, the GE40 seems to be a direct competitor to the popular Alienware M14X.
There’s no word yet on availability and pricing, but according to preliminary report, it will be equipped with Intel Core i7 4702MQ processor, 8GB of RAM and Nvidia GeForce GTX 760M GPU with 2GB video memory. The battery is rated for three hours with average usages and storage wise, users will be looking at 750GB HDD or 128GB SSD. The 14” non-IPS display has 1600 x 900 resolution and anti-glare matte finish.
