Manufacturers will soon bring new laptop models with some serious firepower to consumers. Lenovo has started it with the IdeaPad Z40 and Z50; which are direct successors to the Z400 and Z500 models. Both new laptops would start at $599 with the actual release date on March.
Despite the reasonably low starting price, the Z40 and Z50 packs the kind of hardware specs typically expected from high-end multimedia machine. The Z40 has 14-inch display and the Z50 with 15-inch display; each includes 1366 x 768 and 1920 x 1080 screen resolution options.
There are multiple selections of hardware configurations, but the top model has Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, Nvidia GeForce 840M GPU and a hybrid storage solution with 1TB HDD and 8GB SSD dedicated for caching purposes. These models are quite easy to hold can carry with one hand; the Z40 weighs 4.41 pounds and the Z50 at 5 pounds.
With multiple USB 2.0, USB 3.0 and HDMI ports; as well as optional optical drives and 2-in-1 SD card slots; Lenovo really doesn’t skimp on the connectivity options. There is a smooth aluminum keyboard under the lid, with plastic surface that should keep scratches and fingerprints from piling up.
