The HP Spectre XT TouchSmart is an ultrabook with premium material and visually pleasant design. The laptop feels and looks upscale, with magnesium bottom and brushed aluminum lid. However, the metal chassis comes with the usual flaw, it doesn’t respond favorably to localized pressure. While the hinges are sufficiently stiff, some users may consider it a little bit wobbly.

On the right side  of the laptop, there are Kensington lock, power socket, one USB 2.0 port, audio combo jack and card reader. On the left side, there are two USB 3.0 ports, Mini Thunderbolt/DisplayPort combo port, HDMI out port and Gigabit Ethernet. Wireless connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi. The webcam is capable of capturing 720p videos and with the 15.6” 1080p touchscreen display, users shouldn’t have no issues with the absence of touchpad.

The average brightness level is quite good, although it could be negated somewhat by the glossy panel. Classified as a business notebook, the HP Spectre XT TouchSmart is still capable of handling moderate entertainment tasks. It is powered by the energy-efficient 1.7GHz Intel Core i5 3317U ULV processor, while the main storage unit is 256GB SSD.
