Compared to the earlier ProBook 4330s, the new HP ProBook 4340s H4R47EA has roughly similar construction. The brushed, matte aluminum surfaces also remain the same. However, the 4340s now has three USB 3.0 ports, but the Express Card 34mm slot is now missing.
HP installs the 13.3” 1366 x 768 display with inadequate brightness level for prolonged outdoors usage. The HP ProBook 4340s H4R47EA is powered by the Intel Core i3 3120M Ivy Bridge processor clocked at 2.5GHz with the Intel HD Graphics 4000 integrated GPU. Unfortunately, the fan runs non-stop even during idle mode, which can make the laptop slightly noisy in very quiet places.
The 51Wh (4,530mAh) battery is able to deliver about 8.5 hours of operational time with a single charge, which is achievable with WiFi disabled and brightness settings set at moderate level. Overall, the HP ProBook 4340s H4R47EA is a well-built office laptop with adequate security features, usable battery life and low heat emission.
