The HP Compaq Presario CQ58-350SG is a decent laptop with good battery runtimes, moderate system noise, low heat buildup and low energy requirements. Despite these strengths, many would find it hard to recommend owning this laptop. It lacks USB 3.0 ports and the low-contrast display is somewhat unconvincing.

The chiclet keyboard offers normal stroke, clear pressure point and flat, smooth keys. The 15.6” HD glossy display is not suitable for prolonged outdoor use due to insufficient contrast and brightness. The highly reflective display also makes it more difficult to read.

The AMD E1-1200 APU isn’t designed for intensive tasks, but for low-energy computing tasks. The dual-core processor lacks turbo feature and it runs at fixed clock rate of 1.4GHz. The 500GB Hitachi Travelstar offers average transfer rate of 78 Mbps, which is acceptable for a 5400rpm type. The Radeon HD 7310 GPU built into the APU is generally weak and can’t even deliver acceptable frame rates when playing newer games at lowest detail settings.
