The HP Compaq Presario CQ58-148SG is a laptop that can reliably manage all routine daily tasks while running quietly. The battery life is generally acceptable about 4 hours when surfing with WiFi. Buyers have the option of migrating to Windows 8 OS for free. It comes with standard connectivity options, but unfortunately there are no USB 3.0 ports and Gigabit Ethernet.
The CQ58-148SG seems to borrow the design of HP 655, while being slightly thinner. Installed on the lid is a 15.6” glossy-type HD display, with rather low brightness level. Outdoor uses are limited only in shady places away from direct sunlight.
The unit is powered by a Turbo-less 2.1GHz Intel Pentium B950 dual-core processor with Intel HD Graphics 2000 GPU running at 1.1GHz. The CQ58-148SG is equipped with a Toshiba 320GB HDD with 62 MBps transfer speed, which is somewhat mediocre for a 5400rpm model.
