The Asus F550DP is a laptop with decent computing and gaming experience. It also has good battery life and big storage capacity. On the sides, there are three USB 3.0 ports, which offer faster data transfer rate with external storage options. The laptop comes with a glossy 15.6-inch (1366 x 768) display with average brightness distribution level. There’s an AMD A8 5550M quad-core APU under the hood, which fluctuates between 2.1GHz and 3.1GHz depending on software load.

The laptop uses 1TB Momentus SpinPoint M8 5400rpm hard drive. Like with many Asus laptops, the hard drive is separated into OS partition and data partition, with roughly 4:6 ratio. The 77MBps transfer rate is appropriate for a 5400rpm unit. The Radeon HD 8550G + Radeon HD 8670M combo allows the Asus F550DP to run newer games smoothly in medium graphics settings. However, the laptop may not perform too well with games that involve CPU-intensive tasks.

Under full load, the temperature level only increases moderately. The palm rests should remain quite cool; allowing users to work with the laptop without issues. The laptop lasts only slightly above one hour under load; and two or three hours with moderate usages.
