Acer Aspire S3-391 Review

The Acer Aspire S3-391 is a direct successor to the Acer Aspire S3-951, with better battery life and computing power. But these come at the expense of higher noise level, which can be inappropriately loud in library or quieter office settings. The Acer Aspire S3-391 comes with a 13.3” glare LED HD display with relatively low brightness level at only 182 cd/m2.

Outdoor usages are generally difficult or impossible; the best case scenario is only when the sky is overcast and the laptop is used in the shade. Like with any TN panel, vertical viewing angle is limited, but the horizontal viewing angle is much more generous.  The laptop is powered by a 1.7GHz Intel Core i5 3317U dual-core processor which can be boosted to 2.4GHz for peak load performance.

The built-in Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU supports DirectX 11 and should be able to run many games fluently at low detail settings. The Acer Aspire S3-391 is equipped with Hitachi TravelStar 500GB 5400rpm for main storage unit. There’s also a 20GB SSD used as cache to improve the overall performance level.
