Dell has confirmed the availability of Vostro 5460. What makes the laptop is different from the rest of the company’s 14” notebooks, it would be the lightest and thinnest model to date. Weighing only 1.54 kg and measuring at just 18.3mm thick, the laptop should appeal many traveling professionals It is equipped with a 14” (1366 x 768) wide screen HD TrueLife LED display. Multimedia features include 720p webcam, microphone jack, subwoofer and built-in stereo with Waves MaxxAudio 4.0 technology.
Running Windows 8, the Vostro 5460 is powered by either Intel Core i3 or i5 third generation processors. The laptop uses a 500GB HDD as the main storage unit, while the additional 32GB SSD is used to improve performance. Five hours of operational time can be achieved through the use of a 3-cell Li-ion battery.
Unfortunately, this still looks rather mediocre compared to Samsung Series 7 and 9, which delivers up to 8 hours of battery life. The Vostro 5460 starts from $749 (Approx. £482) for the notebook variant and $1,099 (Approx. £707) for the ultrabook variant. These machines are available in either red or silver chassis.
