Samsung Introduces High Resolution 13” Laptop Display

Recently, Samsung gave a quick heads up on its high-end display prototype for premium laptops. At 3200 x 1800 pixels, the panel is destined for 13” laptops. It will bring the pixel density count even higher compared to the Samsung Series 9 (2560 x 1440) and Retina-capable MacBook Pro (2560 x 1600). Samsung’s new display is expected to have 276ppi of pixel density; as comparison, the Google Chromebook Pixel is at 239ppi and Retina MacBook 13 is at 227ppi.

Compared to typical LCD panels, Samsung’s products are claimed to have 30 percent better power savings capability due to the more efficient backlight units and fewer driver circuits. Not much detail is known at this moment, but we should get a first-person account on these products.

Samsung also spotlighted a 23” LCD display with 10 simultaneous touch points, which can be used for large-scale tablets. Just last week, Sharp unveiled three high-resolution IGZO LCD panels; 11.6”, 14” and 15.6”; which also feature reduction in power requirement and thickness.
