Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 Review

The Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 looks pleasing at first glance with its gray and charcoal color scheme. Unfortunately, the glossy surface tends to accumulate fingerprints and smudges rather easily. Connectivity options provided by the laptop include two USB 2.0 ports, two US 3.0 ports, HDMI port, two audio ports, DVD drive and card reader.

Lenovo adopts the “AccuType” keyboard for virtually all of its notebooks. It offers adequate feedback, although it takes some getting used to, due to the shorter stroke. The 15.6” glossy HD display should be used only in the shade when users take it outside. The extent of viewing angles further confirm that the display is only average.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 has Intel Core i5 3210M Ivy Bridge dual core processor, clocked at 2.5GHz, which is paired with 8GB DDR3 RAM. The Seagate Samsung 2.5” 1TB HDD is not the fastest option available, but it should provide decent performance with 90MBps of transfer rate. The Nvidia GeForce GT 630M discrete GPU allows the laptop to deliver reasonably smooth gaming performance when playing Diablo 3 at highest detail settings.
