HP Will Soon Launch the EliteBook Folio 1040 G1

HP has launched the EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 to refresh its laptop lineup. The laptop is equipped with 14-inch full HD display and ultraportable design. Users can choose either Intel Core i5 or i7 dual-core Haswell processor options. To protect the whole package from drops, shocks, vibrations and extreme temperature, the Folio 1040 is certified for MIL-STD 810G standard.

With its 15.9-inch aluminum design, the laptop is surprisingly lightweight. In fact, uninformed buyers could mistake it for a plastic-based device. The Folio 1040 G1 comes with the HP ForcePad touchpad. The pressure-sensitive component allows users to scroll the interface while holding and tapping. They can apply different amount of pressure instead of moving their finger physically. The gesture is also applicable when users want to drag icons around the screen.

There’s an early learning curve with the HP ForcePad; but users should immediately get to grips supported gestures while they navigate documents and webpages. To achieve reasonably slim dimension, HP needs to leave out specific physical ports, including the RJ-45 Ethernet. Instead, users need to use a special adapter to connect with the local network. HP will release the EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 later this month for around $1,299 (approx. £795).
