The HP Pavilion 17-e054sg is a solid product package offered to consumers at a reasonably competitive price. Its application performance is more than enough and its gaming capability allows users to enjoy more than just sporadic playing sessions. The case is built entirely out of plastic and its black surface shines like mirror. The laptop comes with non-backlit chiclet keyboard; the 15 x 15mm keys offers clear tactile feedback and short, crisp stroke. The keyboard should feel steady during intense typing sessions.

Although the 17.3-inch (1600 x 900) display uses glossy panel, outdoor uses are still possible, except in very bright environments. The HP Pavilion 17-e054sg offers no surprise in terms of viewing-angle stability, although vertical changes don’t look too good on the laptop.

The AMD A10-5750M quad-core APU is built based on Richland architecture and clocked at 2.5GHz. The Turbo Core feature allows users to reach up to 3.5GHz. The main storage unit is a 1TB 5400rpm HDD with around 80MB per second of data transfer.

The dual-graphics system is consisted of the discrete AMD Radeon HD 8670M GPU and the Radeon HD 8650G IGP. Both support the so-called Crossfire configuration, which allows them to work in tandem when processing complex 3D graphics calculations. To improve battery life, only the HD 8650G is used for basic graphics implementations.
