HP Envy 6-1000sg Review

The HP Envy 6-1000sg offers excellent materials and beautiful design. Attention to details is represented by the chrome-look framing, which adds to the impression of excellent build quality. A cleaning cloth is compulsory as the case attracts fingerprints and dirt all too easily. There are three USB 3.0 ports on the sides and two of them offer the SuperSpeed technology.

The chiclet-style keyboard comes with a generous full-size layout. Serious typists can take comfort of the reasonably large keys, although they produce slight rattling noises during fast typing. The 15.6” HD display falls short on a couple areas; the glossy finish and low display brightness make outdoor use impossible in many cases.

Its Intel Core i5 3317U processor is often used on many ultrabook models and it’s easy to evaluate the performance level. The RAID configuration involving Hitachi 320GB HDD and Samsung mSATA 32GB SSD, should be adequate for average uses. While the AMD Radeon HD 7670M GPU is still based on the older 40nm process, users can get acceptable frame rates at medium-high detail settings.
