The Dell Inspiron 14z (5423) is an ultrabook with energy efficient processor and mid-range GPU. This combination is adequate for most productivity and multimedia tasks. The operating system and software run smoothly thanks to its SSD. While the workmanship is not consistently good, the case is adequately built using synthetic materials and brushed aluminum. The design is generally similar to most Inspiron laptops.

The connectivity options are not especially high-end, but they are adequate. Besides typical wireless and wired connectivity, users can also take advantage of the optional UMTS modem module to access the Internet at decent transfer rate speed.

The 14” HD glare-type display may show significant reflections in most cases. The laptop is powered by Intel Core i5 3317U clocked between 1.7GHz and 2.4GHz. Offering nearly 500MBps of transfer rate, the Samsung 830 128GB SSD is definitely not a bottleneck within the system. Higher graphical tasks are handled by AMD Radeon 7570M GPU and low-demand tasks by Intel HD Graphics 4000.
