A notable analyst from KGI Securities, Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple may be planning to update its MacBook Pro laptops lineup at the upcoming WWDC in June. One of the more important upgrade will be the use of Haswell processors. Kuo is known for his accurate prediction of Apple’s future products.

He further speculates that MacBook Air with Retina Display capability is still unlikely. It is possible that Apple will still keep MacBook Pro with optical drive on the shelves alongside newer MacBook models. Optical disk drives are pretty much in demand in places where Internet penetration is not too advanced.

Instead of using the Ivy Bridge architecture, the newer MacBook lineup in will use Intel Haswell chips. Intel promises that Haswell chips will be unveiled on June 3. Kuo predicts that the next generations of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air will be shipped by the end of Q2.
