Previous reports told us that the upcoming Acer C720 Chromebook will be significantly enhanced with Intel’s 4th generation Celeron 2955U “Haswell” processor for improved battery life and better performance than the original C7.
Now it appears that Acer is planning to introduce other enhancements including optional touchscreen display, up to 32GB of internal storage and up to 4GB of RAM. If true, the C720 will be the second Chromebook model with a touchscreen display. The Google Chromebook Pixel is the first of such device with its high resolution touchscreen panel and high-performance processor. But since the Pixel is available in the United Kingdom for around £810, the Acer C720 could be much more affordable.
Regardless of the optional features, the basic components include 11.6-inch (1366 x 768) display 720p webcam, SD card slots, USB 3.0 port, HDMI out port, and WiFi connection. It also features a 45Watt-hour, 3950 mAh battery that may deliver up to six hours of battery life with moderate usages. Weighing around 2.9lbs and measuring 0.75-inch thick, the C720 should be reasonably compact.
