Acer Aspire V5-471G Review

Acer LaptopsThe Acer Aspire V5-471G is a decent laptop, which should suffice for most uses; productivity, multimedia and a bit of gaming. Constructed almost entire of matte silver-colored plastics, the Acer Aspire V5-471G may leave cheap impression to some. The keyboard bezel and touch don’t sit absolutely flush, which cause some uneven gaps to appear on the surface.

The whole unit is robust enough and it hardly twists when picked up only at one of the front corners. There are status LEDs and card reader on the front as well as DVD burner and Kensington lock socket on the right side. On the left side, there are mic/headphone jack, two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 port, HDMI out port, AC socket and VGA out port.

The backlit chiclet keyboard has discernable pressure point and short key travel. Its 14” (1366 x 768) display offers viewing angles typical of TN panels; wider in horizontal orientation, but much worse in vertical orientation. Under the hood, there are Intel Core i5 3317U dual-core processor and Nvidia GeForce GT 620M GPU, capable of delivering 27fps on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim at high detail settings.
