It’s commonly known that Microsoft is developing the Windows Blue, a significant update of the Windows 8 OS. However, little is known about its improvements and new features. Reports said that the Blue will offer better battery life for laptop, specifically those powered by the Intel Haswell processors.
The giant chip maker claims that its upcoming processor family would allow laptops to stay operational for ten days before requiring another charging session. Obviously, the impressive battery life can’t come only from low-power hardware components and much of the improvement comes from optimized software as well. Sources close to Microsoft said that the company will implement the enhanced “power mode” that can adapt to various laptop models.
It’s surely exciting to imagine that we will be getting an ultrabook powered by something faster than Ivy Bridge processors, but with much longer battery life.
Some Haswell models will also include better standby technology, which means; the laptop can stay connected to social networking services and email account while sleeping. So, when users open the lid to wake their laptops up, everything is already properly in sync.
