Sony Vaio SV-E14A3M2ES Review

The Sony Vaio SV-E14A3M2ES is a decent laptop with long battery life and acceptable applications performance. It also offers low temperatures and low system noises in idle state. The 14” touchscreen display leaves a nice impression, although this may seem like a fancy gimmick. The casing of the Sony Vaio SV-E14A3M2ES is similar to earlier E14 models, except for the materials and colors.

The back of the lid is aluminum, while the rest is combination between black glossy plastic and silver matte plastic. The lid is reasonably stable, but the base unit creaks occasionally. The keyboard layout is similar as the one used by its predecessors, except that it is backlit. Each key has pleasant tactile feedback, clear pressure point and medium stroke.

Although the keyboard wobbles a bit when used for typing, it still brings an overall comfortable experience. Under the hood, the 2.5GHz Intel Core i3 3120M dual-core processor with no Turbo Boost.  The main storage unit is a 500GB 5400rpm hard drive with average transfer rate of 83Mbps, which is reasonably fast. The Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU supports DirectX 11 and allows users to play The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim at 27fps with low detail settings.
