Over the years, MacBook users have been plagued by battery overheating problems and as the latest response, one of Apple’s biggest retailers, Best Buy, has finally issued a recall to replace more than 5000 batteries. CSPC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) advised MacBook owners against using the recalled battery.
CSPC recently reported that a number of white and black Li-ion batteries for MacBook Pro had somehow caught fire while charging and caused some injuries. In one incident, a user suffered a serious burn on the leg. Users are asked to immediately remove the battery from their laptops and use the $50 (Approx. £32) gift card from Best Buy for a full refund. It’s also good to know that Best Buy has been contacting users directly.
Best Buy has issued a statement that they are only one of many sellers that sold these replacement batteries. Li-ion battery is known its overheating issues and in some cases, they can reach to hazardous levels. Back in, there were two widely-publicized cases of iPhone combusting spontaneously.
