MSI has recently added a couple of new models into its GT60 family. The MSI GT60 2OD-261US is designed for serious gamers and the GT60 2OKWS-278US is more appropriate for creative-oriented professionals. Both models come with the headlining 3K screen resolution, which is not available anywhere else in the market.
The gaming-centric GT60 2OD-261US comes with 15.6-inch anti-reflective display and 3k screen resolution, configured at 16:9 ratio. MSI decides to add the Nvidia Geforce GTX 780M discrete graphics card to propel that many pixels on the screen. The entire package is propelled by the Intel Core i7 4700MQ Haswell quad-core processor, clocked between 2.4GH and 3.4GHz based on requirements. To round off the gaming monster, MSI adds 128GB SSD, 1TB 7200rpm HDD, 16GB of DDR3 RAM, 9-cell battery and Blu-ray reader.
Unlike its gaming sibling, the GT60 2OKWS-278US comes with the Nvidia Quadro K3100M graphics card, which is ideal for creative-oriented software, including SolidWorks, AutoDesk and Adobe Creative Suite 6. The other difference is that the GT60 2OKWS-278US has one less USB 2.0 port, but it still has three USB 3.0 ports. The gaming machine runs the newer Windows 8 OS and most professionals won’t mind using the Windows 7 OS with the GT60 2OKWS-278US.
